The Orthodox Community of the Holy Apostles is now The Orthodox CHURCH of the Holy Apostles.

After the purchase, on the 23rd July 2007, of the former Leyland Lane Methodist Church in Leyland (just over 5 miles frrom the centre of the City of Preston in Lancashire) a new chapter in our history begins.

Many of our friends are aware that we have been searching for a suitable church building in the Preston area to call our own for over 16 years without anything coming to fruition.  Now we finally own our own church the hard work of fundraising and refurbishment begins. More details will follow.

This opportunity to further the work of the Orthodox Church in the Central Lancashire area is in by far the best maintained property we have viewed over the years.

The buildings are in a generally well maintained condition and of a size and type ideal for our needs.

Inside the church

The attached hall and ancillary rooms are newer 1930s additions to the church itself and offer lots of community potential. As far as we are aware any remedial work required will be minor. The internals of the Church will need to be slightly altered to make it suitable for Orthodox worship but much of this can be acheived by help from willing voluntary hands.

His Eminence Archbishop Gregorios has given his blessing and support for the project. We have raised funds over the years and, although we have received several gifts and loans for this project, we still needed to obtain a mortgage. We therefore need to raise more to repay the loans and mortgage and for the planned refitting for Orthodox worship.

We now appeal to your generosity to support our ongoing Orthodox work for the Lord in this area.  With a building of our own, which will gradually be beautified following a correct Orthodox schema, as befits proper worship, there is no limit to what we could achieve.

Many people have already given generously and we are very grateful for this but we need to raise much more.
